About the Festival

The Metro Fountain Blues Festival is the longest running free of charge blues festival in America. Located along the San Carlos Plaza on the historic campus of San Jose State University , the Metro Fountain Blues Festival hosts over 8000 blues enthusiasts. Patrons enjoy food and crafts vendors, a great Beer and Wine Garden, the best sound system, a family friendly atmosphere, and, of course, the best musicians playing wonderful American music!

Admission, Entry Gates, Prohibited Items

Admission

Admission is free... ... however, a $5 per person donation is requested at the entry gates. These donations help to keep the festival free of charge, and also support the Associated Students of San Jose State University, a non-profit organization that provides support services to San Jose State University Students.

Entry Gates

Entry gates are located off of the 7th Street Plaza (outside the Event Center) and at the San Carlos Gate (off of Fourth Street.)

Alcohol

No alcohol or glass containers may be brought into the festival. All bags and coolers will be checked by security at the entry gates. Free I.D. wrist bands (available at the entrance the the Beer and Wine Garden) are required to enter the Beer and Wine Garden and purchase alcohol. YOU MUST HAVE PROPER I.D. TO RECIEVE A WRISTBAND.

Prohibited Items

High back chairs are not allowed. Low back chairs are acceptable.

We love pets; however due to crowd levels we cannot allow them inside the gates.

Parking

Parking Map

Parking is available in the SJSU Seventh Street Garage (on the corner of 7th and San Salvador) for $10 per vehicle.

Food and Beverage

We encourage you to support our local businesses by purchasing your refreshments from any of our food and beverage vendors at the festival. Outside food may be brought inside the festival; however, no glass or alcohol is allowed. All coolers will be checked at the entry gates.

There is a Beer and Wine Garden available for persons 21 and over. Free I.D. wrist bands (available at the entrance the the Beer and Wine Garden) are required to enter the Beer and Wine Garden and to purchase alcohol. YOU MUST HAVE PROPER I.D. TO RECIEVE A WRISTBAND.

Blues Bucks

Food and beverage vendors will only accept Blues Bucks. Blues Bucks are $1 each, and can be purchased with cash or credit card at any Blues Bucks Booth.

Directions to the Festival

From Highway 101 in either direction

Highway 101 to the Highway 280 north interchange Highway 280 to Seventh Street exit north, make a right turn; cross San Salvador and left into Seventh Street Garage. From Highway 280 in either direction Highway 280 to Seventh Street exit north (left turn coming from north, right turn coming from south); cross San Salvador and left into Seventh Street Garage.

From Highway 680

Highway 680 south to Highway 280 north; Highway 280 to Seventh Street exit north, make a right turn; cross San Salvador and left into Seventh Street Garage.

From Highway 880/17 in either direction

Highway 880/17 to Highway 280 South interchange; Highway 280 south to Seventh Street exit north, make a left turn; cross San Salvador and left into Seventh Street Garage.

From San José Mineta International Airport

Take Guadalupe Parkway (becomes Highway 87) south to I-280 southbound. Exit at Seventh Street. Turn left on Seventh Street to campus.
